We at the Nantucket Conservation Foundation regret to announce the cancellation of the Marc Roberge of OAR drive-in concerts. We know that this will come as an enormous disappointment, not only to the sponsors, supporters but to the artist as well.

This is not a decision we have taken lightly and there are a number of overriding concerns that have caused us to make this decision. Although the concert series was originally approved by the Nantucket Select Board, an additional untimely review by the Department of Health concluded that the scope of the event had to be reduced by up to 75 percent of the approved capacity, thus eliminating the economic viability of the series. Although we disagree with their interpretation of the Massachusetts guidelines and are dismayed at the last-minute action by the Department of Health, we understand that the concert series idea evolved rapidly and we respect the Town of Nantucket’s decision.

Our primary concern is always for the safety of our supporters, sponsors, staff, and performers. We are committed to do our part to protect the health and well-being of all those involved. Governor Baker’s recent order regarding certain state restricted travel along with the uptick of recent Nantucket cases were also taken into consideration.

Refunds in full with be automatically issued for all of those who have purchased tickets online.
