John Granger Macfarlane III
John Macfarlane has been involved with the Nantucket Conservation Foundation since 2007 when he joined the Board of Trustees
John is the founder and Managing Member of Arrochar Management, LLC. Prior to the formation of Arrochar, he was Vice Chairman and Managing Director of Tudor Investment Corp., where he served as Chief Operating Officer and Co-Chairman of the Firm’s Management Committee from 1998 to 2011. Prior to joining Tudor, Mr. Macfarlane worked at Salomon Brothers for 18 years, as Treasurer from 1989 to 1996 and as Managing Director of several fixed-income trading businesses.
John is a member of the Board of the University of Virginia Investment Management Company (UVIMCO), which he chaired from 2011-2013. He is a member of the boards of the University of Virginia Licensing and Ventures Group, of Hampden-Sydney College and of the U.S. Olympic and Paralympic Foundation. John earned a BA in classical studies from Hampden-Sydney College, where he was a George F. Baker Scholar, and an MBA from the University of Virginia Darden School.
When not on Nantucket, John lives in Crozet, Virginia, with his wife Dudley. They spend their summers in Tom Nevers with as many of their children and grandchildren as possible.
