2010 NANTUCKET BIODIVERSITY INITIATIVE
4th Nantucket Biodiversity Initiative Week Wednesday Sept 15th- Tuesday September 21st |
The Nantucket Biodiversity Initiative (NBI) will sponsor the 4th NBI Week on Nantucket, Wednesday, Sept. 15th to Tuesday, Sept. 21st. The NBI is a collaborative of Nantucket's leading conservation organizations together with universities, nongovernmental organizations, and individual partners on and off-island acting to inventory and monitor the many species of plants and animals found on the island and to educate the community about Nantucket's rich local biodiversity. |
The NBI seeks scientists and naturalists to visit Nantucket to conduct biodiversity surveys in their area of expertise. Participants can spend as little as a day or up to the full week or more on island. To join us, download a registration form from the website or call or email Diane Lang and Emily MacKinnon (contact information below). Deadline for Registration is September 1st, 2010 |
Housing and funding to support parking and ferry travel are available for qualified registrants needing financial support. Housing and funding are limited so please complete the Financial Need section of the Registration Form and submit it as soon as possible. |
NBI Week offers an exciting opportunity to those interested in documenting the biodiversity of the island and adjacent waters to visit Nantucket to conduct short-term inventories or to initiate long-term biodiversity research, to work with island naturalists and conservation groups and to provide an educational experience for the public. During the week there will be free public programs, field trips and workshops for participants. Please check the Nantucket Biodiversity Initiative website for more information: |
